St Agnes Chamber of Commerce is pleased to be supporting the second Parish Business Awards, celebrating excellence across a number of fields amongst business stretching from Mithian to Porthtowan, to Blackwater and in-between.

As a Chamber our primary focus is to further the aspirations and ambitions of all businesses in the Parish.  As such we felt it was about time that we all came together to celebrate what an amazingly diverse, skilled and capable community of businesses there are here, and as such following a brilliant launch in 2016 we are bringing the awards back, and this year they are bigger, and better!

The entry criteria is simple - you must be a business based in, or operating directly in, the Parish of St Agnes, all Member businesses are eligible to enter but you do not need to be a member to do so.  We want to hear from anyone and everyone who feels they have a business to shout about.

We won't make you join the Chamber ( though we always welcome new members! ) and entry costs nothing.

The Categories

Best Business

This award is looking for business exemplars in the most general terms.  If you think that what you do is great tell us about it! We are not interested in financial statistics we want to know what it outstanding about what you do.

All business are able to enter - please don't be shy about shouting about why you do what you do and how your customers benefit from it!

Best Online Presence

A digital presence is becoming increasingly important in the business world, this award recognises businesses that are creatively engaging with their customers through their website, social media and other channels. We will specifically look at how the business brand is represented through the digital channels available.  

If you have conducted a social media campaign that has really taken off - tell us how and why and what happened next!

Best Employee

Good businesses are built on good employees.  If you feel there is someone in your team who goes above and beyond – tell us about them!

Best New Idea

If you have innovated a new product or business initiative within the last 24 months we want to know!  Tell us what you have done and what it has achieved.

From devices to assist with access, to initiatives to facilitate a better experience for dog-owners staying on-site, to developing a new range of artwork that is inspired by our local area, anything and everything counts - be creative!

Best Customer Experience

The customer is at the heart of every business.  This award focuses on the experience the customer gets from the first point of contact to the delivery of the final product/service. Customer testimonials will support this entry.

If you are running a business - you have customers!  And we're willing to out money on the fact you care about the experience they have with you.  Tell us what you do - and how you do it!

Most Sustainable Business

For businesses who can demonstrate making their businesses sustainable through a combination of environmental, community and communications initiatives.

This is particularly important to all of us - and even the smallest of efforts can reap large rewards. Don't be shy in celebrating what you do, you might be more ahead of the game than you think!

Peoples Choice

Not open to entry.  Shortlisted finalists will be publicised and voting will be made by the general public online between November and December 2017

Kathy Morris (tbc)

Director, Impactissima & Impact Coach

Kathy is an award winning organisational development specialist and coach with almost 20 years’ international experience in fast-moving, sales-led enterprise organisations. An expert facilitator and innovative designer, with a focus on tangible outcomes and performance change; Kathy has held a number of senior learning & development roles in international organisations including Thomson Reuters Science, Hays Recruitment plc, where she developed an award winning global leadership development programme, and RSA Group. Her professional experience includes extensive cross cultural management initiatives, specifically in development and implementation of large scale leadership initiatives and coaching at an individual and team level.

Toby Parkins (tbc)

(President, Cornwall Chamber of Commerce)

Director, UKNetweb and Headforwards

Founder and managing director of UKNetWeb and founding director of Headforwards, Toby Parkins combines technical knowledge with a highly driven, commercial perspective to produce the latest approach to a range of business activities.

Starting out on the internet in the early 90s, Toby has a good understanding of a range of programming languages and an ability to identify technical opportunities that others would miss.

Toby is responsible for concept development, top level project management, strategic consultancy and development. He is also founder of the Agile on the Beach conference and the Cornwall Digital Meetup Group, and also President of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

Pete Mitchell (tbc)

(Councillor)

Pete is our local councillor, working with businesses and intregral to his job is helping them with planning issues, employment, waste, transport and many other issues.  He believes that business is one of the most essential part of any society, providing a unique opportunity to be a source of good within that society. As a local person, living in Cornwall for the past 11 years, protecting and promoting St Agnes unique business community is top of his agenda.

Originally from Nottingham and Lincoln Pete is a registered nusrse for people with Learning Disabilities and has managed,commissioned and have owned specialist services in the north for these people.

St Agnes Parish Business Awards

The Process

The Awards will go live on 22nd July 2017 and will be open for entry until 1 October 2017.

Shortlisting will take place in early October and shortlisted entrants will be announced after 10th October.

Voting will then become open for the Peoples Choice Award and will remain open until the end of December 2017.

Where applicable shortlisted entrants will be invited for interview / presentation / mystery shop or similar activity during October - December so that they can be judged for their individual categories.  This will not affect the outcome of the Peoples Choice Award which is solely for your customers and fans to vote on.

FInalists will be decided upon by Januray 2018 and announced at the Awards Celebration Event on 22nd February 2018 at The Rose in Vale Hotel, Mithian.

Who can enter?

All businesses which have a registered office, or business premises, in the Parish are eligible to enter the Awards.  All members are eligible to enter the awards, with the exception of holiday accomodation agencies who are members but whose offices are not based within the Parish.  In this case, the owners of properties they represent may enter their accomdation, as the accomodation is the business which is based here.

When completed please save your completed form in a .doc or .docx format.

You may submit up to 5 images to support your entry.  These must be saved into a pdf document and emailed at the same time as the entry form.

Then return both documents to the St Agnes Chamber of Commerce Projects Officer, Annie Lucas at hello@st-agnes.com

Please use the following title in the subject of your return email:
SAPBA: (Category which you are entering)

Please also send us a high res version of your company logo.

Return all paperwork to us by 11 pm on the 1st October 2017.

Please ensure that the email address hello@st-agnes.com is saved in your address book.  Future communications will come from Annie Lucas at this address and we don’t want them to go into your junk folder!

 

What Happens Next?

Initial judging will be based on what is submitted.  Where you have gone over the word count only the words up to the specified word limit will be considered.

3-5 business will be shortlisted per category, and shortlisted business will be notified after 10th October 2017.

Shortlisted business may then be required to part take in interviews / premises visit / mystery shop where appropriate for the final judging to take place.

Late entries will not be considered.
